Is the noise after going to home position normal?

Just got my V-One today.
And baking the Hello World board now as a test.

However I noticed when the v-one is in its home position it keeps power on the motors.
Using alt-R I can release the motors. (the noise stops)

Is this normal behaviour?

Hi HBijlsma,

You're correct that the V-One will keep power on the motors even when homed. This is normal behaviour - the reason it keeps the power on is to maintain the tool calibration in the X, Y, and Z axes. If the motors are released, the printer will have to re-calibrate the position of your tool, which takes about a minute.

To expand on what Matt mentioned - the motors will release automatically after 5 mins of inactivity - and if you start baking or reflowing, the system will home to move the carriage away from the heated bed and immediately release the motors.

Here at Voltera HQ, we found 5 mins to be a good balance between "Why is it homing again!" and "That noise is driving me bananas!"
