How to export Gerbers with Mentor Graphics?

Hello,

My lab purchased a V1 to help students rapid prototype boards for our senior design class. My university primarily uses Mentor Graphics for PCB design, which uses the .gdo file type for generating Gerber files. This file type seems to not be compatible with the V1. I have tried the easy fix of renaming the gdo to GTP and GBP, but sadly this did not work.

Is there any ways you know of converting .gdo to an GTP/GBP?
(we tried getting Mentor Graphics to output a different file type and we where unsuccessful)

Hi @jackalope,

Are you able to open the file with Gerbv ? If you can open it with Gerbv and it renders as expected, then there is a problem with our gerber parser and you have identified a bug.

Do you mind attaching a sample *.GDO file? I can take a look and confirm if it's an oddly named gerber file, a bug, or a different format altogether.

Hi @jackalope,

It looks like the gerber file wasn't exported correctly - I would recommend double-checking the export settings and trying again.

I personally haven't used Mentor Graphics, but there should be resources available online to help with this (see here, for example). Hopefully that helps!
