Developing Linux Drivers

Having a small embedded device with an LCD screen and a file system would be a really neat way to control the V1.

Any plans for developing Linux drivers?

Hi @emcniece,

A Linux version of the software is certainly in the pipeline. However, we haven't done any work on it yet so we are not sure if it will be a 2-3 day or 3-4+ week endeavour.

A few months back we sent out a KS survey asking what features the software team should work on first. There was a healthy response rate and double sided printing and improved Gerber handling came out on top, while the Linux version got pushed down.

Found myself thinking about this as well. I intend to have a number of people access my machine eventually, and would rather buy a raspberry pi and leave it with the voltera instead of dropping a couple hundred on a windows machine.

Props for using electron though, as I imagine this makes your UI 90%+ reusable.

Yep. Apart from the installer creation, executable signing, and serial connection, we haven't had too many platform specific issues.

I understand that Linux drivers are not a priority. But maybe open sourcing the documentation for the protocol used will allow the community to develop drivers to at least allow command-line based tooling?
