Cheaper solder syringes

Has anyone tried using third party solder paste in the V-One?

I’m wondering if something like one of these syringes might be directly installed in a cartridge?

@mewertow mentioned in this post that Bi57Sn42Ag1.0 (above links) and Bi57.6Sn42Ag0.4 (what’s in the store) work equally well.

It’s less than half the price and has the ease of buying from Digikey. Let me know if it’s worth picking one up to try.

I did not see any dimensions on those cartridges. I did look at a ‘regular’ 63/37 lead solder paste I had on hand and it was way too long to be used as is.

I discovered that the V-One syringe dispenser will only accept Nordson EFD syringe barrels. I tried some Fisnar ones which are very similar but just slightly different near the nozzle end and they don’t fit and can’t be used. If any of the commercial solder paste syringes already use 5 cc Nordson EFD barrrels then you may be in luck.

Have you tried the fisnar needles by any chance? do you know if they are compatible with the standard voltera cartidges and conductive inks/solder pastes?

Hi…the DealExtreme paste is actually excessively thick for use with a needle, in spite of the fact that I have utilized it effectively with stencils. In the event that you take a gander at the remarks page on DealExtreme, a few people suggest adding a touch of fluid transition to diminish the consistency. I’m almost certain once you get the glue right, you will not have an issue getting it to adhere to the pads.
